Tinkers are among the most flexible parahumans, as a typical Tinker can artificially assume any number of other classifications depending on specialty, [4] in addition to drawing inspiration from the powers of other parahumans or the work of other Tinkers. Tinkers can be divided in twelve sub-categories: [8]. Tinkers arise from problems without solutions that take place over long periods, culminating in crisis moment.

A Tinker starts out with having ideas. A wide variety ideas that just might catch on what ideas the shard might backup. A typical tinker will start crafting their technology, but unlike a typical artisan's process the Tinker's will be interpolated with the shard stepping in during the process, using its exclusive features to tune the resulting technology. Thus, unlike an artist making a painting the process doesn't just take place on one plane of reality, [37] in fact the full process can't be seen in the regular 4-D reality humans are evolved to deal with.

As an addendum; given the wide diversity of parahumans in the world it is not unknown for tinkers to wildly diverge in the methods they take to achieve their results. Through the above mentioned scanning process and possibly even appropriating other Tinkers research, [7] [40] tinkers can 'push' their Tinkering portfolio into other specialties if they are willing to invest the time and energy while dealing with the challenges inherent with being an active parahuman.

Due to the process outlined above a Tinker device is nigh-impossible for normal humans to recreate, reverse-engineer, or even maintain. Tinkers are often able to modify devices of other Tinkers, although even here the end-result will be of lesser quality.

On the other hand, others — even ordinary humans — are able to use Tinker devices. Tinkers even equip teammates with items although this is unusual[48] while some Tinkers, such as those from Toyboxsell their goods on the black market. Regardless a Tinker is a huge asset to any team and are thus highly sought after, [52] if not outright abducted. The thing to understand with tinkers is that they can assume any number of artificial classifications thanks to the technology they create. Blasto and Cask are good examples of this phenomena.

There are those whose tinkering works through an alternate means, such as those who can create tinker devices through their presenceor those who have a separate power distinct from their tinkering. Thinker abilities are also known to occur, as they may compliment the tinker power letting them use their power more effectively. Interestingly there are parahumans that create items and technology that are explicitly not tinker-tech yet still acts as a vector for their powers. Tinkers are less dangerous when removed from their gear, but should not be assumed to be harmless.

Trigger events usually produce Thinkers when the parahuman experiences large amounts of emotional and mental strain while a crisis point is reached in a short period of time. Thinker is an extremely common secondary classification, [19] often in support of other powers, as such, Thinker is not truly tied to any other classification. The PRT employs a large amount of Thinkers in their operations. They are used to vet applicants, [21] but were also used to screen individuals during the outtake process for the Madison Quarantine Zone.

Stranger powers are result of a trigger event involving a threat to emotional and mental security or social or collective pressure, often with a focus on unwanted attention. Stranger triggers often have a great deal of overlap with other categories: Masters and Changers in particular tend to find parallels with Strangers. From the perspective of the entitiesStrangers stand as a mark opposite to Tinkers. Where Tinkers are created to study powers in more depth, Stranger powers tend to be a vehicle or an angle for lesser powers or fully researched powers to be used in a more effective way and serve particular purposes, or to collect data on psychology.

Because the entities have no great use for these powers, the Stranger powers are often incidental, more the result of the individual using their powers a certain way than a plan of the entities.

I thought it was more imprinting weapons onto mundane objects, including tinker weapons? Revenant is ongoing, with solid writing. Strikers are parahumans that have powers that are touch-based or melee ranged. It should be noted that enhanced strength is generally not a Striker power, but part of the Brute classification, [5] although Flechette claims some forms of strength not accompanied by increased durability are considered Striker powers [6].

Strikers result from immediate, in-your-face threat, usually a singular object or individual. Open areas are preferred over cramped quarters. Unlike most other classifications, the Striker rating has no additional countermeasures for a rating of nine or higher. Glimmers of memories and dreams, the conclusion had been, after long discussions with Eidolon and the parahuman researchers. An effect of the thinker power required to manage his own ability, tied to trigger events in some fashion.
